Wisynco invests over $37m in schoolboy football
KINGSTON:
Wisynco Group Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to national youth sports development with a $37.3 million investment in the 2025 schoolboy football season.
The highly anticipated football competition was launched on Wednesday night at the Summit in Kingston.
At the forefront of Wisynco's sponsorship is its flagship hydration brand, WATA, returning as title sponsor of the Manning Cup with a contribution valued at $19 million. Other key Wisynco brands, Powerade, Pringles, and TruSHAKE will continue to provide support for both the Manning Cup and daCosta Cup competitions.
"Schoolboy football is a fundamental platform for shaping the future of Jamaica's young men," said Brittany Thwaites, brand manager for WATA, during her address at the launch. "It teaches discipline, resilience and leadership; all qualities that extend far beyond the football field.
"WATA is proud to power the performance of these athletes, ensuring they stay hydrated and ready to give their best throughout the season," she noted.
Keith Wellington, president of ISSA, commended the company for its support.
"We are grateful for Wisynco's continued partnership over the years. Their investment has been instrumental in sustaining the growth of schoolboy football and allowing us to stage the competition at a level that continues to expand in impact and reach," he said.
"This year we also commend WATA for taking the lead as title sponsor of the Manning Cup, further strengthening the opportunities available to our young athletes" Wellington added.
This year marks Wisynco's eighth consecutive sponsorship, solidifying its role as a strategic partner in one of Jamaica's most influential sporting competitions. Of the investment, $32 million is in cash and $5.3 million in product support, reinforcing the company's dedication to creating opportunities for student-athletes across the island.
The 2025 season officially kicks off on September 6 at the National Stadium, signalling the start of months of intense competition, skill development and community engagement.
Wisynco commended ISSA for its continued leadership in executing the tournament and committed to continuing its investment in sports, acknowledging football as a catalyst for youth empowerment and national progress.
