Worried my penis might be too small

Dear Pastor,

I am 20 years old and I have a girlfriend. She is 18 years old. We have never had sex. She is always asking me how come I don't want sex because she had a boyfriend before me and they always had sex.

She left him because he was upset about something that she did and he punched her, causing her face to swell. When her mother asked her what happened, she had to tell her mother the truth. Her brothers went after her boyfriend but they did not find him. They were going to beat him. So, she broke up with him.

Whenever she asks me why we are not having sex, I always tell her that I am not like other guys. Sex is not something that we should rush into. She says that sometimes she feels for it. I tell her that I feel for it, too, but I can control myself and she should learn to control herself, too.

Pastor, I have not told her the truth. The truth is that I have a very small penis and I am ashamed to let her see it. It is very small. When it is erect, it is only about three inches. I have even had to roll up my handkerchief and put it in my brief to make people think that my penis is big. I went to camp and when the other campers were going to the river, I had to pretend that I was sick because I didn't want the guys to realise that I didn't have anything in front of me. I have tried to stretch my penis to make it longer and bigger, but that hasn't helped.

I talked to my mother about my problem and she said that I am worrying too much. She said that I should not worry because it may still grow bigger. But it is not growing. I would like to have a wife and children, but I don't know if that will ever happen seeing that my penis is so small. I have done very well. I have a good job. Women always like me, but I have kept away from them. My girlfriend and I have been friends for more than a year. I really love her, but I am ashamed to let her see me naked. Please for your advice.

Dear R.D.,

I understand why you are so very concerned about the size of your penis. If indeed your penis is three inches, it is small and it would cause you great concern. Studies have shown that the average size of a man's penis when it is erect is between 5.1 and 5.5 inches. This, however, might not be a comfort to you. Many men have undergone surgery to make their organs larger. Even men with that penis size wish that they were larger. Some men have sought to enlarge their penises by doing surgery. I understand that this is very costly and even risky. You are a young man. I would suggest that you can talk to your mother about the matter again and suggest to her that you would like to see a urologist because this matter is heavily on your mind and it is affecting you psychologically.

You would not be able to make excuses all the time to your girlfriend. You should consider telling her the truth. Do so after you have consulted a urologist.
