MOE fundraising run/walk for Sunday

Region 6 of the Ministry of Education's Guidance and Counselling Professional Development Committee fund-raising education's run/walk will get underway on Sunday at the Old Harbour Primary School at 6:30 a.m. sharp.

According to committee member Christine Lewin, the 5K fundraiser which is being held under the theme 'Walk for a Cause; run for a purpose', will see participants running and walking from the grounds of the primary school, through the Old Harbour town and ending back at the school for the closing ceremony.

"The 5K walk/run is a fundraiser for schools in Region 6 (St Catherine and Clarendon) and proceeds will go to welfare needs in the region," Lewin told THE WEEKEND STAR. "Participants will compete for prize money of $10,000, $6,000 and $4,000 for the three top places, along with medals and gift baskets."

She noted that registration is ongoing. For adults, the entry fee is $1,200, while for children, it is $1,000. Groups wiil pay $1,000 and a children $800 to participate.
