There are many sad people among us

A lot of people respond to a "how you doing?" greeting with "I'm richly blessed and highly favoured." Maybe it's just the circles I move in, but I get it nuff. And I actually like it because it's uplifting. Yeah, man. It's a powerful and pleasant affirmation. It means that the person saying it is gratefully acknowledging that he or she is on the receiving end of rich blessings and great favour from God. I prefer those pronouncements much more than the usual negative self-deprecating sounds that some people love to give off.
Mi nah lie. I'm sometimes tempted to avoid asking certain people how things going with them just to avoid the onslaught of tragic and traumatic testimonies. How about you? You ever greeted anybody by asking them how they're doing and when they're done responding you end up feeling kind of sorry that you asked? Have you ever been in a situation where you casually ask people how is life treating them, just to start a friendly conversation, and when they start unloading their story you wish you could take back the question and start all over?
That's just how life is, folks. Plenty sad people walking around like pressurised human tanks carrying massive burdens of problems. Yeah, man. There are many hurting people among us. And sometimes it just take one little question like "how things?" to crack the valve, buss the pipe and open the floodgates to unleash a torrent of sad stories.
But what to do? Even if you can't offer any tangible material help, giving somebody a few minutes of your time and the benefit of a listening ear can do wonders. Trust me. And it doesn't matter whether you're highly favoured or you're 'oily flavoured'. Is not me alone say it. Late American author and motivational speaker Leo Buscaglia once said: "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
And the Bible tells us in Galatians 2 verse 6 to "bear one another's burdens and so fulfil the laws of Christ." So yeah, all unuh righteous folks who love to exclaim say unuh richly blessed and highly favoured, here's my little question: Are you richly blessing and highly favouring anyone in return?
