Thank God baby Sae’breon is home

Big up Fadda God every time and all mi nice, clean and tidy readers! Jamaica always have something a gwaan, whether good or bad.

A whole heap a tings a happen weh we haffi hang we head in shame, but when the news officially buss seh Suzett Whyte and Sinclair Hutton get back dem baby boy that was stolen from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital back in January, a collective sigh of relief echoed across the world.

The story touched people near and far, and we all waited with bated breath to hear the outcome. I spoke to both parents on my radio show.

The joy in their home was palpable, and the excitement could not be contained. Sinclair said that he felt a weight lift from him as he and Suzett had been struggling emotionally since the theft of their baby.

He said dem cry, fast and pray for the return of their son, now named Sae'bron Hutton!

What struck me most was when Suzett said that she doesn't hate the person who snatched her baby and the woman who tried to register her son and pass him off as her own; Suzett said she has forgiven her.

Dark reality

Though I'm immensely happy for the outcome of this story, it has also unearthed a dark reality that many Jamaican families have endured, the stealing of their babies.

I can only imagine the unspeakable pain and trauma that these families have to endure when their innocent and defenseless newborns are snatched away into the unknown.

This dastardly act is not the work of an individual, but of a syndicate of people.

The authorities need to probe the possibility of existence of a baby-stealing ring to the full extent. Families are damaged permanently by the actions of these sick and heartless people.

The females who are intent on scamming men by pretending to be pregnant must stop it! It is a disgusting and heartless way to swindle money out of a man's pocket!

Some people a talk bout, 'Give the baby thief a chance', and indeed, she will get her chance in court to plead her case, but the full brunt of the law needs to be exercised so that others don't think stealing a baby is a game.

Mi want salute the Registrar General's Department (RGD) for their quick intervention and the police for their ongoing investigation to solve this crime. Whoever is the person over RGD weh spot the rake and act on it, may God bless you because yuh coulda lazy and turn a blind eye!
