Dirtworx returns with Knock Weh rhythm
New York-based Dirtworx Records is back on the music scene with its latest project, the Knock Weh rhythm.
The project features Vybz Kartel's Mad Dawg, Ffrench's Hot Gal Luxury and Replay by Meddz.
Formed 13 years ago, Dirtworx created ripples within music circles with a steady cache of songs featuring not only Jamaican dancehall and reggae acts, but also from emerging hip hop acts from the Tri-State Area.
"We started out in 2002 inside Moodies Records in New York. As a label, we have worked with artistes such as Richie Spice, Sizzla, Yami Bolo, Luciano, Delly Ranx, Nicki D, and many others," Earl Moodie Jr explained.
Along with Alton Brown, Moodie formed Dirtworx Records with the thrust to produce quality music from established and emerging acts.
Even though the label focused on reggae and dancehall, its foray into hip hop and indie acts also bore fruit. Among the acts worked with are Dipset, Reed Dollars Noe Money, Hell Rell, and others.
The label's highlights include the Swing Easy and South Side rhythms and Richie Spice's High Grade.
In a bid to expand on its services, the label will also be offering artiste development and artiste management.
"We will be introducing a new artiste to the world in the form of Ffrench, who was a finalist in the Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall competition. We're also doing a project with Mr Bertus, and we are also working on a mix album with some of the biggest names in music from Jamaica. Look out, as we have more great music on the way," Moodie disclosed.
