Supa Sass sets off dance craze
United Kingdom-based multi-award-winning dancehall recording artiste Supa Sass' campaign to put dance back into the dance hall is on in earnest with the release of his dance-centric new track Energetic Move, which has set off a dance craze in Europe.
Sass, who is currently in the island shooting a video for the song, told The Star that the project is a collaboration with fellow UK recording artiste Ash-I and was released on Boxing Day. He said that the track, laid on the Body Basic rhythm, was already generating a big buzz in England.
"You know dancehall music is originally dance music, however, over the years, the music got a bit unhinged. So, basically, what I am doing is using Energetic Move to put back dancing in the dancehall," Supa Sass, who won back-to-back international awards, declared: "So far, since the release last December in the UK, the track is attracting a lot of interest, with disc jocks playing the song, and it is giving off a new vibes for people to dance again," the deejay, who originates from May Pen, added.
"We are currently shooting a video for the song here in Jamaica ... right here in May Pen, and I am pleased with the project and the opportunity to connect with my fans and, of course, family," he also added.
The deejay told The Star that he began his music career in May Pen before migrating to the UK; however, while residing in England, his music career hit new heights, earning him three Silk awards, which included Best New Artiste (2005), Song of the Year (2007), and Artiste of the Year (2007).
