Man gunned down in parking lot near KPH

A man who was shot near the Kingston Public Hospital was rushed to the Accident and Emergency department just metres away, as police quickly descended on the scene and cordoned off the area.

Reports are that the victim was taken from a police service vehicle and transported into the hospital's emergency unit following the shooting.

The incident unfolded in a parking lot adjacent to the hospital, where investigators later combed the area for clues.

Police and scene of crime personnel were seen processing the scene, as the parking lot, usually filled with vehicles, was sealed off.

Pedestrian access was also restricted while officers carried out their investigations.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are not yet clear, and police are continuing their probe.
