Matterhorn defends Alkaline song at Kartel party
Outspoken selector Tony Matterhorn had to defend himself as insults were thrown at him for playing Akaline's 'Champion Boy' during Vybz Kartel vs Worl' Boss party at Oneil's Place, recently.
On the night, a few non-Kartel songs blared from the sound system boxes and were met with approval, but when Matterhorn opted to play Alkaline's song, it was met with mixed reactions.
The die-hard Kartel fans were very vocal, saying that it was disrespectful to their artiste. Matterhorn countered that he is against segregation in dancehall and plays any artiste he wishes.
Influential disc jock, Fire Links, steered clear from the controversy and played only Kartel songs, much to the delight of the crowd.
Selections like Mad Dawg and Which League, got instant forwards and the ladies got busy when the selectors played a slew of Kartel's 'gyal' songs.
Waterford-based, disc jock Badda Bling from D Unit, came on near the event's climax and 'bigged' up Shawn Storm for his loyalty to the Worl' Boss. Also in attendance was Kartel's babymother Tanesha 'Shorty' Johnson.
