Jamaican celebs react to megastar's death

Kimberley Small

Legendary musician Prince has died at the age of 57, and the world has been reacting to his sudden passing. In Jamaica, members of the entertainment circle are not being left behind. They too had something to say about the man who gave the world Purple Rain.

Tifa: A living part of my childhood has died. Someone who has taught me it's ok to be yourself, it's ok to be different, is gone. I remember watching videos of Purple Rain as a child and seeing my parents rock out to songs like When Doves Cry.

OMI - I'm saddened by the whole thing. Another legend has left us a little bit too early. However, I'm grateful for his legacy. The sad thing about it is the fact that I didn't get to meet him.

Arif Cooper - I won't say anything about his image, but his music is phenomenal. A phenomenal talent. He is one of the greatest song writers of his time. I mean, he influenced pop culture entirely with Purple Rain.

Sister Marion Hall - Oh, I wasn't a fan like that. We must all know if we are right with the Lord. The Lord giveth and The Lord taketh away.

Mr Vegas: Who is going to replace these icons? How are we going to get back the music and singers that brought out our emotions and the true love inside of us? RIP great one.
