British sampling pioneers Coldcut and dub producer Adrian Sherwood have teamed up for a new album called 'Outside the Echo Chamber'.

Reported by rollingstone.com, some album vocals will be contributed by rapper Roots Manuva and reggae icons Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Junior Reid.

Coldcut's an English electronic music duo composed of Matt Black and Jonathan More, who are also the founders of electronic music label called Ninja Tune.

Black and More are credited as pioneers for pop sampling and are also considered the first stars of UK electronic dance music.

an inventor

Coldcut's style featured cut-up samples of hip-hop, breaks, jazz, spoken word and various other types of music, as well as video and multimedia.

Perry's work is similarly referred to as pioneering. He is classified in music circles as an inventor, for adopting a style of remixing, where he manipulated studio effects to create new instrumentals or vocal sounds for existing, completed reggae tracks.

He has worked with a wide variety of acts, including Bob Marley and the Wailers, Adrian Sherwood, and the Beastie Boys.

Coldcut invited the input of another of Jamaica's outstanding reggae contributors, Junior Reid. Ahead of the album's release in May 2017, the first single dropped called Divide and Rule.

The song features Elan, Perry and Reid, who sings, "divide and rule is the way they keep oppressing," on the track.

Junior Reid is best known for the anthemic 1989 One Blood, and his appearance on the remix of M.I.M.S. This Is Why I'm Hot.

In 2011, Reid collaborated with American rappers Ludacris, T-Pain, Busta Rhymes, Mavado, Bun B, Game, Twista, Jadakiss, Waka Flocka Flame, Fat Joe, Ace Hood and Birdman in the remix of DJ Khaled's Welcome to My Hood.
