ONLINE - Bill Cosby rape trial begins, gets support from 'Rudy Huxtable'
The trial for the Bill Cosby's sexual assault saga has begun, and the comedian isn't without support.
Images posted on popular gossip site, TMZ.com, show the once-beloved sitcom star and stand-up comedian walking into the courtroom with former 'Cosby Show' co-star Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played Rudy Huxtable.
Cosby, 79, faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault after allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004 at his home.
In recent years, 60 women have come forward and publicly accused Cosby of sexual assault, according to a tally kept by the 'Washington Post'.
Most of those assaults are alleged to have happened decades ago, and the women were unable to pursue criminal charges because the statutes of limitations in their cases had run out.
Constand's allegations are the one known exception. The accusers are reported as being of various backgrounds and ages.
Some were supermodels, casino workers, nurses and flight attendants, but they all had similar stories, that Cosby had befriended them with the promise of mentorship, drugged them and raped them.
Knight Pulliam played the role of Rudy Huxtable, the youngest child of Cliff Huxtable, played by Cosby, and Claire Huxtable, played by Phylicia Rashad.
If convicted, Cosby faces up to 30 years in prison.
