Fresh from launching her own label, 1 Soul Music Group, and the release of her new empowerment anthem, Working Girl, Ikaya is feeling "deeply grateful and fulfilled" as she gears up to start a sisterhood movement.

"The Working Girl single and label launch exceeded my expectations in every way. The energy in the room was powerful, the support was genuine, and the love was overwhelming. To see people come out not just for a show, but to stand behind a vision, a movement, and a message it meant everything to me," Ikaya told THE STAR of last Friday's launch at the Elegance Banquet Hall in Connecticut.

She shared what was "one of the most touching moments of the night" which saw her Working Girl movement take shape .

"That moment came when Vanessa Bling took the stage and chose to perform I Just Can't Give Up. In that moment, she reminded me of who I am ... my strength, my journey, and the artiste I've grown into. To hear her affirm me publicly, to call me her singer, was deeply emotional and affirming. It was a reminder to keep going, to never doubt the calling, and to continue walking boldly in my purpose."

This event, she noted, wasn't just about music or a label launch, it was a reflection of years of sacrifice, faith, and resilience.

"Watching everything come together, live band performances, incredible artistes, strong women, and supporters from all walks of life was emotional and affirming. It reminded me why I started and why I never gave up. What made the night truly special was the unity. It felt like a celebration of women who work, dream, build, and still show up every day despite challenges," a grateful Ikaya stated.

Expounding on the 'Working Girl' concept, Ikaya outlined that although it is her own story, it also belongs to every woman who sees herself in it. The single, she pointed out, celebrates independence, resilience, and self-determination.

"The song speaks directly to women who hustle, lead, and take ownership of their lives--whether through business, creativity, or family. It reflects strength, ambition, and confidence, positioning Working Girl as both a personal statement and a broader movement for empowered women."

Born in Waterhouse, Kadian 'Ikaya' Blair was encouraged by her mother, who saw her passion to enter music and dance festivals at Pembroke Hall Primary School. While attending Wolmer's Girls School she formed a group called B2K girls, and subsequently met Capleton, and officially started her career as one of his background vocalists and later his opening act on tours. They recorded a collaboration titled, Fire, which climbed to the top of various music charts.

Ikaya is known for hits like Hard Way and Fly Away. Her career highlights include being named Most Promising Female Artiste in Jamaica and gaining acclaim for her vocal versatility as both a singer and deejay.

Working Girl, the single, is currently available on all major digital platforms.
