Lisa Hyper tweaking image - Aritiste to launch EP soon

Lisa Hyper was once touted as a protege of Jamaica's favourite incarcerated dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel.

Years ago, she became part of the Portmore Empire as Lisa Hype and her career showed promise.

But she was sometimes caught on the wrong side of the law, including being fined for common assault and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident with a woman in 2015.

She said she has spent time out of the spotlight to reflect on the image she would like to portray.

"I had to differentiate Lisa Hyper from Felecia Gooden. Now, we know when and how to differentiate the two. I'm more cautious, humble, refined. You're gonna be hearing from me, you're gonna be seeing me a lot. It's back to work," she said.

PREPARING FOR EP DEBUT

The artiste is preparing for the debut of her EP called Boss Up, due for distribution in July. The first release is Belong to Me, featuring Gyptian.

According to Lisa, the collaborative production was one of her most natural. She explained that just about a month ago, they were at work in the studio.

"He was humming a little melody and I liked it, so I started thinking about something, and then I let him hear it. And he loved it," Lisa said. "The video is sexy; it shows a more flawless and refined side of Lisa Hyper."

Lisa also plans to release the video for Tuff Love.

"I wanted to prove a point on it. When a man can go after his goals and achieve his dreams in love or relationships, some women get distracted. So Tuff Love is a motivating song for women. We can be CEOs, too. We can have control," she said.

The music video for Belong to Me is available on YouTube and will be uploaded to Lisa's Vevo channel by the end of this month.

She has already released three songs from the six-track EP on SoundCloud, just for listening not download.

Lisa told THE STAR that she plans to have T-shirts and female hoodies as merchandise for the Boss Up launch events.

"There will be one in California, one in New York, one in South Florida, and then we carry it to Jamaica," she said.
