A Montego Bay pastor is set to grace the stage at Reggae Sumfest in St James next month.

The pastor, Anavah Love Jones, claimed first prize in the first leg of the Red Stripe Big Buss Talent Competition held at Pier 1 in Montego Bay, St James, on Monday.

Jones, whose given name is Stephen Blake, hails from King Street, Montego Bay. He was unanimously voted as the first-place winner for the Second City.

"I am a pastor in the inner city and I know the kind of music they listen to. I try to counteract it with the Word of God and put myself among the best," said Jones.

"The pastor of dancehall has arrived and I'm telling Sumfest that I'm coming."

Mikey Bennett, who will be a judge in the talent competition, said "he's going to mash up the Sumfest stage."

Bennett will be coaching Jones and the winner of the second leg of the competition in preparation for the reggae festival.
