Teejay promises to impress at Sumfest

Western artistes are promising an unforgettable performance when they grace the stage at Jamaica's premier music festival, Reggae Sumfest 2017.

This year marks the 25th staging of the weeklong festival slated for July 16-22 in Montego Bay, and among those teeming with anticipation to deliver an impressive show is Montego Bay-based dancehall artiste, Teejay.

The artiste, who will be making his fourth appearance on the show, has been creating a buzz in dancehall through his sharp lyrics and smooth delivery.

With hits such as Money Sound, I Don't Want To Be A Memory and True Friends, Teejay has racked up a huge following of fans on the local scene.

"Fans can look out for a magnificent performance from Teejay this year because he is really focused and looking towards Reggae Sumfest as the biggest platform for him," Teejay's manager, Sadeque Bulgin, told the WESTERN STAR.

Different stage

"Sumfest has done so much for Teejay's career. Whenever he performs at the festival, he feels like he has passed a different stage in his career," said Bulgin.

He said that Reggae Sumfest has helped to open doors to other shows such as Brit Jam, Jamfest, and MoBay Jerk Festival, among other events locally as well as abroad in Trinidad and Florida.

"He is willing and ready to dominate to the best of this ability," the manager added.

Teejay, along with another top act from western Jamaica, Tommy Lee Sparta, will be performing on Friday night, July 21, at the Catherine Hall Festival Grounds in the tourist capital.

Tommy Lee Sparta, who originates from Flanker, is no stranger to the stage of Reggae Sumfest and has been performing at the internationally acclaimed music festival year after year since headlining in 2012.

Popular reggae singers Jah Cure and Queen Ifrica, who both originated, from western Jamaica, are also in the line-up this year and will both be performing on the closing night Saturday, July 22.
