Body of senior citizen found in sea near Hellshire

The discovery of a senior citizen's body floating in the sea near Hellshire yesterday has prompted the St Catherine South police to launch an investigation into a suspected drowning.

The deceased has been identified as 67-year-old George Brown of Angels Estate, Phase Two, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Reports are that about 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, a body was seen floating in the sea in the vicinity of Helshire Beach. The Marine Police were alerted and later retrieved the body from the water.

Checks carried out by the police confirmed the identity of the deceased as Brown.

The body was removed for a post mortem examination.

Investigations into the matter are being carried out by the Helshire police.
