Dream come true - Masicka single enjoys BET rotation
Genahsyde recording artiste Masicka has been enjoying a huge amount of success on the local market in 2018.
However, with his sights set on making an even bigger impact on the global market, the entertainer has been making strides overseas.
His songs have been making the rounds on several music stations across the US and the artiste seems poised to take his music to the mainstream.
One of his most recent tracks, They Don't Know, has been added to the rotation on the internationally renowned video outlet, BET Jams.
Speaking with THE STAR, Masicka explained that his song gaining international attention is a testament that authentic dancehall will always get the attention it deserves.
He expressed that growing up as a child, he always hoped one of his songs would get featured on a BET programme and is happy that that dream has materialised.
"When I was growing up, I used to watch '106 and Park' and always dreamt to have a song on there. Although '106 and Park' is no longer here, BET Jams is like the next best thing. So to see my song a play with the hottest artistes in America is a good feeling," he said. "I'm just going to continue to do authentic dancehall and just work hard."
His manager, Corey Todd, said the artiste's achievement is a good look for dancehall, especially as the song doesn't feature an international artiste.
"For it to be playing alongside Migos and Cardi B and what's hot in hip hop now is great. It was always our plan to do so (make an impact internationally) and we will continue to push and make the right connections so that Masicka will be a household name worldwide," he said.
The official music video for the song They Don't Know has racked up over three million views on YouTube since its release.
Before that, the video garnered another three million in just one month on the artiste's VEVO channel.
