Niko was a humble person - ZJ Chrome
For many dancehall fans, Niko Chromatic was the man who would 'hype up' the many parties that his sound system, Chromatic, played at.
But according to radio disc jockey and producer ZJ Chrome, Niko Chromatic, whose real name is Nicholas Grant, was a very humble individual.
"He was just one of those guys who never want to be in the limelight, but was just friendly and willing to help out in pretty much any situation," he told THE STAR.
The producer, who recorded Niko's single, Dancing Vibe, which was released in 2015, was always asking him about appearing on one of his projects.
FAMILY VIBES
"I don't know of anybody else who has voiced him, but he is always seeing me and say: 'Chrome, yuh cyaan voice mi and one day I just pick up the phone and say, 'Yo! Yu ready fi voice?' and him say, 'Yeah', and he was very excited.
Chrome, who met Niko in 2007 at a party, noted that he was always a family vibes whenever he was around the MC. He said that their friendship grew over time, pointing out that he was booked to play at almost every party that Niko and Chromatic were booked for.
"We always hold a likkle reasoning, he was always positive," Chrome told THE STAR.
"In 2013, we were on every single party together, all the teenage parties, all the high school stuff and that is where the friendship grew, and we became good, good friends.
