Game Changaz takes Guinness Sounds of Greatness
Game Changaz ruled at Red Stripe Oval last Friday, claiming fame, glory, J$1 million and a guaranteed place at the Reggae Sumfest Sound Clash in 2019 as Guinness Sounds of Greatness staged its grand finale for this year.
There was no contest, according to the judges, who declared that the Kingston-based sound buried the competition from the first 15-minute juggling round.
The decision was unanimous from the judges and crowd, who showed their approval of Game Changaz who proved their worth, despite having only six months of experience.
Everyone came dressed to impress for the final showing of the series and ready with their playlists for a clash that was indeed memorable.
The 'Best of Bounty Killer' challenge was especially electrifying, as the sounds dropped all of the dancehall legend's greatest classics.
The 'Warlord', who doubled as inspiration and host of the clash series, was visibly impressed by the show of pure talent and preparation from the final four competitors. It was a sentiment expressed by the judges.
"It was a very exciting final. Game Changaz deserve it because them really come surprise me tonight, Chattis come live up to him name. Him come prepared, him dress for it, him song dem ready, him argument dem ready, him jus ready," said Richie Feelings, resident judge of the Guinness sound clash. "The other sounds, Black Blunt and Panther Sound, a war sound man; and Lexzona still young, so dem will get there."
The decision came after the highly anticipated 'Dub-fi-Dub' round. The dubplates dropped by Lexzona featured the likes of Stephen Marley and Aidonia, much to the delight of the crowd. However, by then it was too late. Game Changaz had already sealed their fate with their showmanship, attention to detail, crowd support and control throughout the night.
When asked how it felt to secure victory, Selector Stainy responded, "How you think it feel? It's an overwhelming feeling, I'm speechless. We had set the formation right, got the ball so them can execute the position weh dem fi play, and me execute the goal dem. And as you see, me nuh miss!"
The Reggae Sumfest World Clash will be on Thursday, July 19 at Pier One in Montego Bay, where Game Changaz will make their debut not as contestants but as the juggling sound.
