Local music producer Sean 'Contractor' Edwards of Contractor Music Group in Ocho Rios continues to make waves on the international scene. After recently revealing that he was the executive producer of a track for the late Tupac Shakur, the music expert has landed yet another huge project with Grammy Award-winning pop star Chris Brown.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR about the track, Edwards revealed that the collaboration came through a connection he made with multi-platinum Def Jam reggae/hip-hop artiste Kali Ranks. Edwards explained that Kali Ranks, a Jamaican by birth, already had the song and just needed someone to push it. The track, titled Monster, will include Chris Brown, up-and-coming female artiste Stephanie Adler and Edwards.

Edwards told THE WEEKEND STAR that having seen the success he had with his Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica album, Ranks was confident he was the right person to promote the track.

"Ever since the success of the Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica album (which did 19 weeks on the billboard reggae Charts top 10 and four weeks at number one), a lot of artistes have been reaching out to me. One of the artistes who linked me was Kali Ranks. He wanted Contractor Music Group to distribute and promote his song with Chris Brown through our partners, Amada Records," Edwards said.

NEW ALBUM

Pointing out that Kali Ranks isn't the only hip-hop artiste who has reached out to him about possibly joining forces, Edwards revealed that he has begun work on a hip-hop/reggae album, titled Hip-Hop Cruises to Jamaica.

"We're releasing the Chris Brown track as the lead-off single for the album, but Brown isn't the only big international act that will have on this album," Edwards said. "Several high-profile hip-hop artistes have already done work for the album. We have Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliot, Tupac, C murder (Master P's brother), Jadakiss, Flo Rida and Prodigy (from the group Mobb D) on there. It's going to be a huge album."

Reggae artiste Capleton will also be featured on the project, as he is set to showcase his versatility on a hip-hop-flavoured track.
