Dancehall artiste Shaka Pow has been hitting the streets for the past few weeks to hand out much-needed school supplies at the weekly events across the Corporate Area.

The entertainer recently started a back-to-school campaign, which saw him making stops at Boom Early Sundays, Weddy Weddy Wednesdays, and Uptown Mondays over the last few weeks.

Shaka Pow, who recently launched his Dr Garth Shaka Pow McDonald Foundation, handed out hundreds of books and pencils to patrons in attendance.

Pointing out how important it is for entertainers to give back, the artiste encouraged his colleagues to do what they can to assist those in need.

"Giving back is sharing some of what God gave to us, and it's not always about money," he said. "We don't have to have scholarships set up if we don't have the means to do so. If what we can give is a few bags, books, and other supplies then we should, because a lot of times, little goes a far way."

As part of his back-to-school campaign, the entertainer released a new track with the same title. He explained that it was necessary to creatively represent that which he was promoting, as music goes a far way in helping to spread any message. The song, he says, has been doing well, and he hopes that the momentum surrounding the track would continue even after the back-to-school excitement has died down.

"The song is doing well in the dancehall, and top selectors like Boom Boom have been playing it round the clock. But I want it to still be relevant even after the back-to-school momentum has subsided," he said.

The song, he explained, encourages parents to take care of their children and give them the tools necessary for them to do well, while encouraging children to do well in school to make their parents proud.

He has released an animation video for the track with hopes of releasing an official music video in the coming weeks. That video is expected to be directed by Sassy Alician Roxborough and edited by CJ.

Meanwhile, Shaka Pow is currently working on an EP and is set to release a slew of new singles over the next few months. He also plans to embark on other charity initiatives.
