Dancehall artiste Macka Diamond is gearing up to release her third studio album.

The project, which is slated for release in January, will also mark a special occasion in the artiste's life.

The entertainer, who would be celebrating her 48th birthday on January 12, said the album will see her celebrate life as she continues to live it to the fullest.

"I want to release the album for my birthday. My birthday is January 12 and I will be celebrating it in Old Harbour. It will be a weekend, so I'm just gonna use the opportunity to enjoy myself and give my fans something they can enjoy as well. It will be like a birthday present to them and to myself," she said.

The entertainer said that with January fast approaching, she wants to start 2019 off with a bang and said her album will allow her to do just that.

"I want to come out strong for the new year and I think I can do that with this album. The plans (for the album) are not far apart right now. I already have enough songs, so it's just to get the choices of which ones I'm going to put on it," she said. "I'm promoting this song called Birthday Sex and that song is doing really well. It's a feel-good track and I'm thinking of naming the album after that song."

With this being her first album since 2012, the entertainer said she's going all out for the project, mixing the old with the new and fusing genres.

"A touch of everything is going to be on it. Soca, dancehall, the singles Birthday Sex and GPS. I think I'm going to put back Dye Dye on it, so is a whole heap a things a go gwaan," she said, noting that only a few artistes will be featured on the project. "I can hold my own enuh, so I don't need to put a lot of people on it. Right now, there's only Charly Black and Spotlight on it as featured artistes."

Aside from a big hit that could possibly cross over in the international market, Macka Diamond said she has no expectations for the project.
