Gospel singer Flavia Bradshaw Beswick started the year on an optimistic note with her debut single 'God's Will', which encourages listeners to remain steadfast despite the obstacles life presents.

Produced by Theo Tomlinson, the upbeat hybrid track begins with the voices of her two younger brothers, who declare, "I know that God will make a way."

For Tomlinson, the lyrics transcend beyond mere words.

"People have been saying they really like it and that the words are encouraging, and that's what I want to do with my music, uplift people and cease any hurt they've been experiencing," Bradshaw Beswick told THE WEEKEND STAR.

"Going into 2019, I lost my grandmother, so I understand what it means to have a part of you feeling really out of it, but you still have to find the willpower to push on. I want my music to be that thing that pushes people to continue because they know that God is going to make a way," she said.

The 21-year-old was raised by her parents in Kingston but also spent some time with her grandmother in Mandeville, Manchester. Stating that she has always had a passion for music, the singer said that she decided to pursue the main stage in 2017 when she entered the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission Gospel Song Competition with the song Centre of My Life. The experience molded her in several ways.

"I needed an extra push as I was a reserved person, even though I knew that the stage is where I'm supposed to be, so it helped me get over that fear," she said.

"It also helped with my spiritual life because during that process, there were a lot of things that came to distract me from my end goal, but it brought me closer to God and made me understand what He called me to do."

Bradshaw Beswick holds a music education degree from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and currently teaches music, English and mathematics at a private preparatory school in Montego Bay, St James.
