Quban makes Canada link
The die-hearted support from the Caribbean diaspora continues to keep dancehall and reggae artistes in the international spotlight as the world continues to clamour for the indigenous Jamaican art form.
The most recent collaboration between dancehall act Quban Mafia and Canadian label Ashton Adams Music demonstrates the undying international appeal of Jamaican music.
Quban, who has just returned from a promotional tour in Canada, is now signed to Ashton Adams Music and has already recorded its three singles Never You Sell Your Soul, Girl, I Love You, and No Response at their Kyngdom Studios facility.
"Quban has quite a unique style about him and is a master at creating catchy on-the-spot lyrics, which will, no doubt, make him a break-out hit," said Adams, who has been a trailblazer in working with talented emerging artistes from around the globe.
The Canadian music producer has roots that extend back to New Green, Manchester, in Jamaica, birthplace of his grandmother.
CREATIVE SPACE
With its tagline 'Imagine. Collaborate. Create', Kyngdom Studios, based in Cambridge, Ontario, provides a creative space for photography, video production, make-up services, high-quality recording, and music production.
Founded by Adams, the label has worked with several notable artistes, record labels, and executives in the industry.
Adams is also one half of Canadian DJ-production duo, KYNGS. The duo, made up of Adams and Josh Polasz, independently released their debut single Let U Go in 2018 under their own artistry KYNGS, which now has garnered more than 4.5 million streams on Spotify.
Kyngdom Studios' lead engineer is Bryan 'BC' Cockett, who also has Jamaican roots.
Quban, whose given name is Ludwig N'Dalla, gave a sterling performance at the Canadian Clarendon Kingston Linkup on March 23, featuring Style X and Country Tiger.
Quban is known for the singles 5 Grand, Tru Things, Hustle and Nuh Stray.
The initial Quban-Canada link-up was such a big hit that the artiste is already booked for a three-month promotional tour up north, beginning in September.
