Karamanti tackles depression and abuse on latest album

July 26, 2019

Female dancehall artiste Karamanti focuses on the issue of abuse and depression on her latest album, ' Hurt People'.

In an interview with THE WEEKEND STAR recently, the entertainer said that the 10-track project, which comprises three poems and seven songs, serves as an inspiration to those that have struggled with abuse and/or depression.

" Hurt People is divided into three parts. Part one speaks to domestic abuse, rape and, finally, depression. Part two is all about overcoming the hurt and healing, and the final part warns the listener not to get stuck, while emphasising the importance of finding inner peace and happiness," she said.

According to Karamanti, she decided to record the album as abuse and depression are sometimes swept under the carpet.

"A lot of times, these things are not taken seriously and the end results are not usually positive. There are persons who don't take these things seriously, so we find victims suffering in silence," she said.

Hurt People was released on June 25 and features production work from American-based producer Arioso Legato. It is distributed exclusively by Karamanti's Blakkwuman22 Music.
