Cyaan Tiad gets first dancing trophy at Weddy Weddy

His comical antics and 'life of the party' spirit are clearly not in vain as street dancer Cyaan Tiad was recently awarded the Best Vybz Personnel at Weddy Weddy's 15th anniversary celebration.

Though he was not at the Stone Love Headquarters at Burlington Avenue, St Andrew, to collect the trophy, the entertainer is beaming with pride as it is the first prize he has ever won for dancing.

"I never expected it. I was at Ochi doing a show and someone collected it on my behalf," he told THE WEEKEND STAR. "Weddy Weddy is a place I go and 'fulljoy' myself every Wednesday, so it has been a great part of my career. I put in the work so I can get certain things from every party, and Weddy Weddy make me be someone who people can look up to right now as a skanker and entertainer. I hope this will be the first of many awards."

Pursuing his interest in dance for five years, Cyaan Tiad stands out as the slender, dreadlocked figure with a multitude of props, including an umbrella, landline phone, oversized glasses, calculator and compass.

He said his use of gimmickry distinguishes his brand from other dancers, and makes him an attraction at any event.

"I got the Best Vybz award because I bring the vibes every time and I always make people have joy," he said. "If you come to Weddy Weddy, Uptown Mondays or Suzie's with sadness, I can make it all go away by dancing in front of you with my different moves, like Run Lef Poverty and Calculate. I make a difference in dancehall and I will continue to use my props and exercise to keep my body fit so I can make people happy."

Still operating his fruit stand by Cassia Park, he said he hopes to have a positive influence on the youth by projecting clean entertainment.

"I use props like my calculator and compass because that is what kids use in school and I want to be someone they look up to," he said. "My dancing career reach a steady pace now and I will continue to give Jah praise for making me reach this far, and I want to keep growing."
