‘Six pack buss inna two’ - Bounty Killer opens up about surgery

Dancehall icon Bounty Killer has revealed that he delayed having a major surgery done for six months, and only decided to have the operation done after the COVID-19 pandemic began and led to a lockdown of the country.

The stalwart entertainer, whose given name is Rodney Pryce, recently disclosed that he did a major surgery in May 2021. However, he did not reveal the nature of the illness that sent him to the operating theatre.

"Mi put off di date every day [because] mi scared - Bout cut up who, cut up who?," Bounty Killer told THE STAR after a vibrant performance at Sashi Festival 2024 at Plantation Cove in St Ann on Saturday.

The seasoned entertainer said that he made the decision to have the surgery done after the pandemic began in Jamaica. He explained that due to the lockdowns that were imposed by the Government that affected the entertainment sector, thus leaving him with very little to do.

"God mek dis pandemic come in now and everybody isolate now, and gone a dem yawd. Suh weh yuh ah guh do now? Go dweet," a hilarious Bounty Killer recalled.

The Poor People Governor did not disclose the reason him needing to do the operation. However, he said, "I'm glad I did it".

"You know, it take courage fi mek di decision, suh when mi build up dat courage, mi guh dweet and it wasn't like mi expect because mi come outta di hospital in three days, and normally [di doctor] dem seh a normally five to eight days people stay in deh fah, suh me come out deh quick quick," he added.

The scars on his belly are constant reminders of the surgery.

"I'm doing great; I'm doing very well - there ain't no pain. It's been three years after so I'm fully healed. I [was] partially healed after a year because is a real deal surgery suh it was di whole a mi structure dem cut out, di whole a it - six pack buss inna two, suh di whole a di inside got to heal," he graphically detailed.

"Mi can seh 'thank yuh, God. Yuh took me through the journey and mi nuh have no complications and everything come back functioning properly and even stronger. Mi all a put on likkle poun' to and look like mi all a mature," he laughed as he admires his hands jokingly.

"Suh wi affi share di mercy addi Lord wid di people dem seh fi just 'Be strong and believe in God," added Bounty Killer who is currently working on his upcoming album titled, Instant Classics, which is slated to be released this year.
