A medical doctor accused of attempting to swindle nearly $80 million from a commercial bank was remanded in police custody when she appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Thursday, January 30.

Doctor Chloe Duette, otherwise called Peta-Gay Coke, is facing multiple fraud-related charges stemming from an alleged scheme to obtain millions of dollars using forged documents.

Duette is charged with conspiracy to defraud, uttering forged documents, demanding property by forged documents, and failure to secure a firearm.

When she appeared before Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle, the court was told that the accused must first be fingerprinted. She was subsequently ordered to remain in police custody until March 13, 2026.

Attorney-at-law Peter Champagnie, King's Counsel, who represents Duette, told the court that he required full disclosure of the case file in order to properly apply for bail on her behalf.

According to allegations outlined by the clerk of court, between September and October 2025, Duette applied for a loan of $79 million at the Fairview branch of the National Commercial Bank in Montego Bay.

The prosecution alleges that the accused submitted a land valuation report, job letter, and bank statements, all bearing the name Peta-Gay Coke of Beverly Hills.

On January 13, 2026, when Duette reportedly returned to the bank to finalise the loan transaction, she was held by security personnel and handed over to the police.

A folder found in her possession reportedly contained several identification cards bearing both the names Chloe Duette and Peta-Gay Coke.

Following further investigations and a question-and-answer session, Duette was arrested and charged.

Police investigations into the matter are continuing.
