22-y-o nabbed after $8m housebreaking with accomplices
A 22-year-old man has been slapped with several charges in connection with a daring housebreaking carried out with accomplices, which resulted in an estimated $8 million in losses from damaged property and stolen items and funds.
The accused has been identified as Jahleel Grant, of no fixed address.
He has been charged with conspiracy to housebreaking and larceny and conspiracy to malicious injury to property following the incident at a business establishment along Spanish Town Road, Kingston 11, sometime between Wednesday, December 24 and Saturday, December 27.
According to the Hunts Bay Police, Grant allegedly conspired with others to break into the premises by cutting the padlocks securing the shutter. The group then forced their way inside and cut the lock to an office door.
Investigators reported that three televisions were damaged during the break-in, and items along with cash valued at approximately $8,854,000 were stolen.
Grant was later arrested and charged after a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised as investigations continue.
