After being on the run for over three years, a man who pulled a gun on a patron as well as let off several rounds while at a bar on Christmas Day in 2022 in Portland has been arrested and charged.

He is 53-year-old Manley McKenzie, otherwise called 'Degeh', a carpenter of McWinney Street, Kingston, and Nonsuch district, Portland, who is facing charges of illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, assault at common law and discharging of a firearm within 40 metres of a main thoroughfare.

Reports from the Castle police are that about 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 25, 2022, a man was among patrons at a bar in Nonsuch, Portland, when he was approached by McKenzie, who brandished a firearm and pointed it in his face and threatened him.

It was further reported that McKenzie fired several shots in the air before fleeing the scene.

The group managed to make their escape unhurt.

The man later reported the incident to the police, and an investigation was launched.

Following an intensive investigation, McKenzie was nabbed in Kingston and later transported to Portland.

He was formally charged on Saturday, January 17, after a question-and-answer session.

His court date is being finalised.
