Selector Boom Boom hands out $100,000 at Boasty Tuesdays

Patrons at the most recent staging of Boasty Tuesdays got a taste of Christmas cheer this week when they were gifted cash from selector Boom Boom.

'The Billboard selector', as he's most popularly known, gave away approximately $100,000 in cash to loyal partygoers, who he described as 'hustlers and cheerleaders'.

In keeping with the philanthropic spirit that usually takes over this time of year, the selector said it was only fitting he show his appreciation to the men and women who have supported the street event all year round.

"It's a thing weh me always do, innu. I always do it at Christmas and in the summer. Differently from my money pull-up, I reach out to certain producers I know can gimme a strength towards it and dem always come through, so me can give back to the people," he said. "It's a joy to do something like this, especially at this time of the year, and me affi say big-ups to Skatta Burrell and the Downsound team, weh a endorse dancehall. A di second time dis for the month dem a show support this way."

Boom Boom says having been brought up in a home where giving knows no season, it was only natural he follow in the footsteps of those who nurtured him.

"Me is a yute come from a Christian home. Me grow wid my grandmother and grandfather and from me likkle and a grow, me always see my grandmother a give to people. People used to come inna me yard, inna me house, and me just always see she a give. Children live weh dem learn, so me grow wid a desire inna me heart fi help people," he said, indicating that now that he's able to enrich the lives of others, he takes great pride in doing so.

"To be a deejay and inna a position weh me inna, weh me a get free money for money pull-up, it nuh take nothing fi give back. People deh 'round me weh need it more dan weh me need it. At the end of the day, a my blessings dat," he told THE WEEKEND STAR.

A video of the selector's generous act has been making the rounds on social media. The gesture of kindness has earned him a lot of respect from users who are now urging more artistes and selectors to follow in his footsteps.
