I want music to take me further, says Laa Lee - Artiste eyes international market for 2020

December 31, 2019

Dancehall artiste Laa Lee says having performed at three of the biggest shows on the December calendar, he's ending 2019 on the kind of high he's hoping to carry into 2020.

A product of Kingston's inner cities ('Jungle' to be exact), the entertainer told THE STAR that he never expected music to take him this far.

But now that he sees how much the industry has enriched his life, he wants to go harder.

"I want to carry my career to a greater level. I know within myself I have the potential to go international and to be among the greats that have done it, like Popcaan, Alkaline, Mavado. I am aiming towards that for 2020," he said. "I'm going to release a song every month and make me song dem a play all over. Every speaker weh me pass fi play me song dem. Just wah people a listen to Laa Lee and say, 'Da yute ya have mad talent'. 2020 is my year and I won't stop till I achieve all the goals I've set."

BRIGHT FUTURE

Laa Lee said the people's reaction to his performances over the past few weeks has opened his eyes to future possibilities.

He sees himself having similar impact on other audiences across the world.

"My experience performing at three shows in one week was amazing. First, I performed at Ghetto Splash and I closed the show with an excellent performance. Secondly, I performed at Tarrus Riley and Friends and it was an honour around so many amazing entertainers; and then I performed at Unruly Fest, and that was major," he said. "The way the people reacted at all three shows tells me I can do this on a bigger scale. I want to rock crowds in Europe, in Africa, and the United States."

In addition to new tracks, the artiste is working on an EP.

"It's going to be fire. I'm going to be here doing my thing and working on becoming a bigger, better household name," he said.
