With his singles Fit Yuh Affi Fit and Play Reggae Music in heavy rotation towards the end of 2019, reggae artiste Ibo Fyah was poised to take his music to new heights this year.

But, just as he was about to start turning the promotional wheels on his career a little faster, COVID-19 halted his plans.

Although things seemed bleak, the entertainer made a conscious decision to press on. He told THE WEEKEND STAR that music has always been an uphill battle for him.

"So it has always been very difficult to keep a positive vibe. Negative seems to have a stronghold so we are always fighting to get to the top and stay ahead of the game. Those years of fighting prepared us for a time like this, and so now we're just continuing the fight hoping to come out stronger in the end," he said. "I know what I want for my brand and so this time in quarantine away from the active music scene has allowed me to pour my all into the creative aspect. I see myself out there as a reggae ambassador spreading positive music across the world, and so I have been putting in the work to get me there."

'My time has come'

Ibo Fyah has been doing music professionally for the past eight years and believes his time has come.

"The Creator blessed man with skills, trade and talent and I found early that singing was my talent. If I wasn't singing, I would be probably involved in some other part of the music business. This is my calling. This is where I belong and I am ready to take my place in this industry," he said. "I am always trying to sing inspirational songs so I am looking forward to the world taking on to my music and hoping it will contribute to making the world a better place. My sound is spiritual, my message is uplifting and the world needs that especially right now."
