Tallup channels bride of Chucky for latest track
As the world observed Halloween last weekend, dancer-turned-artiste Tallup sought to use the occasion to further her career.
Transforming herself into Tiffany, the bride of the movie character Chucky, Tallup has released the official visuals for her latest track, Own.
It's a move she hopes will prove she is one of the most creative females the industry has produced in recent times.
"I don't really celebrate Halloween, but I am a very creative person, and I like to do things out of the box that will set me apart from everyone else in this business. I don't like to be ordinary, and so I am the person who dares to do the things that people wouldn't expect. Mi nuh follow, I set trends from me a dancer 'til now," she told THE STAR. "Know that this (entertainment) is art, and so whenever I put my creativity hat on, I am the person to give you fresh content, something different from anything and everything else out there."
The entertainer said that her artistic efforts have been paying off. In just over 24 hours, the Own video racked up close to 30,000 views, the fastest number she has received on a project to date.
Negative comment
"I didn't know what people would think, especially because Jamaicans nuh too inna di Halloween thing, but I just said, 'You know what, let's see', and so far everybody love it. I don't get not even one negative comment as yet, even though those may come because everyone have dem own opinion. But so far, all is good," she said.
Tallup said she is a fan of Chucky, and he and Tiffany are a popular couple, which made them perfect for the song.
"Tiffany made it known that Chucky was her man, just like the song allows women to show ownership of their partner. It was just a good fit, and Grapha Gfilms brought it ( Own video) to life. I'm already seeing signs that it is going to do well both locally and internationally," she said.
