Tanto Blacks not joking around with music - Gets endorsement from Chris Gayle following collaboration
Celebrated dancehall slang creator Tanto Blacks, who also goes by the moniker Real Rich, has come a far way since competing on the 2009 Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall stage.
He has earned the respect of several entertainment professionals, which landed him collaborations such as Lifestyle Rich with Teetimus, and with US-based pop singer Kris Karma on Rendezvous.
Tanto Blacks also created a buzz in the streets, popularising slangs with his singles Real Rich and Yankee Boy, that for some reason made persons question his music as a gimmick, which he quickly shut down.
"I have managed to stay relevant by being true to what I love doing, that is music. That, and keeping up the social especially in the pandemic, staying active with the fans," Tanto Blacks told THE STAR. He is currently busy on social media promoting another collaboration with Chris Gayle, We Come Out Fi Party, an upbeat dancehall single produced by DJ Kurt Riley.
Release from the stress
"This song a guh give yuh a vibe; it's three minutes of release from the stress and to show seh when everything open back, we just party," he said, adding that persons should take his partnership with the cricketer and record label owner seriously. "The music we release is good; music the people like and can party to ... why not tek we serious?"
"With the curfews, quarantine, and for everyone with no party, no work and no school, the song is just for people to enjoy the vibes," he said.
Gayle said Tanto Blacks' songs are very catchy and most times comical.
"So he will have everyone laughing but it doesn't mean he is not smart ... Tanto Blacks is a very smart person," he said. "I see him as a fun-loving person and the more I hang around him, the more positive energy I feel, and that's what I'm about. Can't deny that 'rich energy'."
Tanto Blacks has been a repeat guest at Gayle's birthday celebrations held across the world. No party happened this year as Gayle was away at the Indian Premier League, but the two were able to collaborate on We Come Out Fi Party. The music video premiered on YouTube on November 5.
Gayle, dubbed 'The Universe Boss', said that they have more projects to pitch in the future.
"He (Tanto Blacks) already has some uplifting songs and inspiration songs out, and with good marketing it can be richer because people do gravitate to him. Big up Real Rich. I see us doing a few more projects together, even him being a part of Triple Century Records Label," said Gayle.
