‘Nuttin Regular’ about Da Goddess

On-the-rise dancehall artiste Da Goddess is making strides in setting her career on the path to stardom.

Walking out with a single titled Nuttin Regular, which she has been pushing aggressively at every opportunity, the Westmoreland native says she is prepared to surmount any and all hurdles.

"The challenges so far have been availability of funds to campaign heavily on marketing since I took on the challenge of funding my career. I chose to start this way because Jamaican men, especially, are more interested in making sexual advances than your talent," she told THE STAR.

Da Goddess also mentioned that finding a good team to work with has not been the easiest of roads. "It is important that your team also has a similar vision, or else it is just a waste of time," she added.

The dancehall artiste and mother of two, whose given name is Keisha Brown-Baldie, has worked with several producers in the past but only in 2021 did she release her first single, written by her and produced by 3brain records and Vitomusezik. Da Goddess added that she has attracted attention from several labels and promoters worldwide and is getting ready to "unleash an unforgettable EP" that will seek to cement her place in the music industry.

"I have been talking to producers and promoters from the UK and the US who saw my stuff online and reached out to me. In August, I am booked to perform at both the Bath Reggae Fest and also at the very first Sun Up Music Festival in Huddersfield in August," she shared, brimming with excitement.

Among the dancehall contingent advertised for the Sun Up Music festival are Wayne Wonder, D'Angel, Dovey Magnum, Intence and Ghost.

Da Goddess, who was born in Cornwall Farm district in Westmoreland, grew up listening to tunes blazing from her grandfather's stereo. In primary school, she was labelled 'Miss Jackson' due to her on-point performances to Michael Jackson's songs and later began to write songs in high school, where she was an integral part of her school choir. She dabbled in a bit of modelling and was even crowned Miss Jamaica Cornwall. She is currently in the recording studio working on new material.

"A new song will be released on Friday, and I am also recording two others," she shared.
