Lock It considers himself a man of many talents. The up-and-coming dancehall and reggae artiste said that he excelled at singing, dancing and playing the turntables when he was growing up; and the thought of performing on stage captured his heart.

"When I was about 10 years old, I wanted to try off the music. There was just something about being on stage that made me come alive even more. Thinking about the stage and performing for people got me excited and I knew that was my place," Lock It said.

Although Lock It had found his purpose, he knew it would take some time before his music career would take flight. But while he placed much energy in making a name for himself in the entertainment arena, Lock It knew he needed another skill that he could depend on for a constant flow of income, and decided to become a barber.

"Music is a passion and something I really love and grew up around, but we all know how the music industry set up. It takes time and a lot of hard work before the breakthrough, and so mi did a pursue other careers," he said.

The St Mary native told THE STAR that over the years he has forged some budding professional relationships with some of music's top selectors. He said that these partnerships are yielding good returns.

"I am around a lot of top selectors and the big acts in music, so musically, I have not fought any huge uphill battles. I am very comfortable and just putting in the work and letting that speak for itself," he shared.

Lock It's current projects are targeted at females, and he is convinced that the songs are hitting the right spot.

"I actually have two songs right now, one titled Good Girl Energy and the other called Walk Out Pan Dem. These songs will make the ladies feel good, worthy and show them that they are queens. I also have a song called Protect Your Energy, so I got a few singles right now, so I am totally busy," Lock It said.

As a long-term goal, Lock It has the Grammys on his mind, but for now, he wants to build his local fan base.

"You definitely want to grow here and then go international," he said.

"I wouldn't want to go international and not have my home base intact. If it's one thing I am sure of, it is that once you have the Jamaican audience, you can confidently attack the overseas market," Lock It said.

Celebrity crush: Spice hands down! Been a long time mi love her.

Biggest turn off: Fake people with fake energy.

Inspirations: I am inspired by vocalists like Gyptian. I admire the work of dancehall artistes Vybz Kartel and Mavado. They have had a powerful influence on music and have been a big inspiration for me.

Dream collaboration: No one in mind right now, but I am willing to work with any artiste who is going to put out good music and positivity.
