Reggae singer Tarrus Riley was numbered among the Twelve Tribe of Israel members who turned out on Wednesday evening at a memorial to honour Israel's beloved doctor Carlton 'Pee Wee' Fraser.

The tribe chose white as their colour to celebrate Dr Pee Wee and this was reflected in both their garb and the decor. Riley stuck to the colour code, and in his appropriate acoustic set, he made sure to sing what he said was his doctor's favourite song, Shaka Zulu Pickney.

"I join in remembering our great doctor," he told the gathering at the Kaya Herb House on Lady Musgrave Road, St Andrew. "One time I visit Doc because I was hoarse and by the time I leave I could sing. I'm going to sing a song that Doc love. When he heard this song, him seh 'Yuh find one Tarrus'.'"

"Shakazulu pickney warrior spirit inside, Man a Shaka Zulu, pickney Nkrumah, pickney Kunta Kinte, pickney Just like Malcolm and Martin and Marcus I'm fiery," he chanted as the group showed their appreciation.

Riley also paid tribute with the poignant Remember Me, as well as the fiery Lion Paw. Prior to his performance, Judy Mowatt, one of the organisers, had noted that "It feels like Pee Wee is here".

"In a setting like this, I am looking at his face, I am looking at his smile. And I know we have been at many, many events with him sitting over there with a glass of roots or something, or talking 'bout a patient," she said.

She sang a farewell song that she had done for Bob Marley, but changed the words, as well as Thank You Lord (for sending us Dr Pee Wee).

Veteran artiste Fred Locks and the Chinna Smith-led Binghstra Drummers also showed their appreciation for Dr Pee Wee in song.
