High-quality clashes at Guinness Sounds of Greatness
Guinness Sounds of Greatness reignited the sound clash culture with two top-class clashes at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Hope Road, St Andrew, on the weekend. The clashes were one-off battles with the first one pitting young street disc jocks Shukkle Bus and DJ Banka. In the end, judges chose DJ Banka as the winner. He received $500,000 for his efforts.
The main clash was an exhibition battle between long-time rivals Ricky Trooper and his Trooper Sound System and Pink Panther. The latter used current dub plates from artistes like Masicka and Skeng to woo the crowd and took the juggling round. The second round was basically even, as both sounds were ordered to play five of their best Bounty Killer selections. The final round, the dub for dub section, was where Ricky Trooper reigned. He used his craft and experience to clobber Pink Panther.
