Ms Chin records gospel edition of Skeng’s ‘Gvnman Shift’
Gospel recording artiste Ms Chin has recorded a gospel version of Skeng's mega dancehall hit Gvnman Shift, titled Christian Edition.
The former dancehall artiste traded her secular lyrics for music glorifying God following her baptism last year. She said that Christian Edition is her first official gospel release since then. Another track, Blessings, has made it to the airwaves. However, she said that it was not officially released. She expects Christian Edition to be released shortly.
"The video a edit right now and it will be released this month, because mi really want it to be hot, hot for December," she said.
"Fi him (Skeng) song a run the place inna the secular world, so I felt inspired," she shared. "Him a do it fi the gunman dem and mi a do it fi God; mi a win souls." Ms Chin is also quite confident that Christian Edition will be beneficial for Skeng, too.
"My song can make that song hot again, "she reasoned.
The artiste said that she had fun making the record and even came up with the lyrics effortlessly. "I'm a writer, inno, so it never take me longer than 45 minutes," she shared.
It is not the first time that she has parodied another artiste's music. She explained that the practice catapulted her career in the past, so she is confident that it will produce similar favourable results on her Christian journey.
"I did the counteraction for Munga's Naw Mad Ova No Gal and my song went worldwide, so I got shows all over. My song played on all the radio stations so much that I said, this is a good song to counteract and talk about God," she reasoned.
