Beres says Intimate will be extra beautiful

Godfather of Lovers' Rock , Beres Hammond, feels it in his bones that the New Year's Night show, Intimate, which he will headline with Buju Banton, will be "extra beautiful".

Intimate takes place at Grizzly's Plantation Cove in St Ann. The supertalented Beres, who was spotted at last Saturday's staging of Stars 'R' Us, is eagerly looking forward to thrilling patrons.

"One thing mi sure mi a go do on January 1 is sing to the best of my ability," Beres told THE WEEKEND STAR.

He added: "I think the concert is going to be extra beautiful; I feel it in my bones. And ... like how the people don't have work the following day, then di show nuh sell off? Intimate is the perfect way to start your new year," the Rockaway hitmaker said.

The internationally acclaimed entertainer recently returned from his successful Solid Love tour, which made stops in 13 US cities. It was the Come Back Home singer's first tour in almost three years and this saw him performing at sold-out venues such as: RFK Stadium Festival Grounds, Washington, DC; Oasis Shriners Auditorium, Charlotte, North Carolina; and the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida.

"The tour was really wonderful. After almost three years doing nothing, I was just longing to see the people out in the crowd ... I call them family ... and they came out. Everywhere I went, people were just supporting me and I am so thankful," he said.

Last Saturday night, Beres sat comfortably in the audience at Stars 'R' Us where he was entertained by some of Jamaica' talented entertainers. One of the high points for the 'Godfather of Lovers' Rock' was singer Gem Myers belting out the Jennifer Holliday classic, And I Am Telling You.

"Gem going to tek the high note now ... listen to her. Bap! Bap! Bap! Bap!" Hammond shouted. "I have been missing events like these. It's been a long time. The artistes are the kind of artistes who actually made me appreciate reggae music and I have been to almost 70 per cent of these kinds of shows. Once I see it advertised and I am here, I come and tek it in."

Although Beres and Myers have never done a collaboration, with his level of enthusiasm, anything is possible.

"Yeah man ... Gem a mi friend," he declared.
