A candlelight ceremony in tribute to Boom Dandimite of 90s group Scare Dem Crew is planned for tonight at Sugar Minott's Studio at Robert Crescent in Kingston.

The entertainer, who was involved in a serious car accident in April, collapsed last Friday as he deplaned in Florida. He was rushed to hospital where he was placed on life support, but died early Sunday morning.

Members of the music fraternity have been posting about the vigil on social media, while also sharing memories of the easy-going entertainer. He was supposed to perform on Reggae Sumfest on July 21 as part of the Boombox 90s Badness segment along with General B, Harry Toddler, Jigsy King, Mega Banton, Nitty Kutchie, Silver Cat, and Tony Curtis.

On Tuesday, a candlelight vigil was held in Seaview Gardens Phase 2 Falcon, where he resided up to the time of his death. On Wednesday night, in Majesty Gardens, a birthday party was held for Mama Cherry, Boom Dandimite's mother, who was celebrating her milestone 70th birthday.

Boom's cousin Christine Grant shared that the event, which was mainly courtesy of Bounty Killer, "was joyful but mournful".

"Her kids were planning to do something from before, but Mama Cherry said she never want anything again like how her son just dead. So it was suppose to postpone, but Bounty surprise her with a party," Grant said.

"It was wonderful... people like wow. Richie Stephens, Nitty Kutchie, Harry Toddler and of course Bounty Killer ... a whole heap of artistes turn out and support my aunt. She appreciated it so much. Elephant Man wasn't there, but I think that's because he is off the island," she added.

Bounty Killer has been leading the way in remembering Boom Dandimite since his shocking death and all week has been posting about his lifelong friend.

On Thursday evening, he posted, "Donovan Herman Stewart, aka Boom Dandimite, thanks for all ur lessons. It's such a blessings bro we appreciate all u had done throughout this lifetime."

Boom Dandimite, Nitty Kutchie, Harry Toddler and Elephant Man formed the Scare Dem Crew in the 1990s. The crew was closely aligned to Bounty Killer, who took them on tours to ensure they gained exposure. They tasted success with songs such as Pure Gal and Many Many.
