AceGawd working on new album

Working long hours in the studio on his debut album, which will be followed by an EP, and maintaining the balance between music and family time are the main things on the agenda for Sadeki 'AceGawd' McLarthy.

The upcoming album is titled Awake at 3 am, and the first single, Sad Truth is already released. However, the Mark X and AXIO singer, who shared that he "makes music according to how [he] feels and the rhythm", said that a release date for the project has not yet been decided.

"Well, you know how artistes are. Sometimes they take their time on the songs to make sure that everything is done to perfection. Ace arrived at the title by himself ... I have only heard one or two of the songs so far. He is a very private person," his wife Sophia explained.

But it's not all work and no play for the entertainer, who celebrated his 27th birthday on June 17, and hosted a bash which was organised by his wife.

"The birthday celebration was a day and night of fun and enjoyment and I had local and international artistes who performed. I was surprised with a birthday cake," AceGawd told THE WEEKEND STAR.

"After the party we went to Jewels Paradise Cove Resorts and it was fun," Sophia added. "We love to go on vacation and go to dinner and just enjoy ourselves."

Asked how he was juggling his time between his demanding music career and his wife, with whom he tied the knot last February, Ace Gawd said, "I balance my time perfectly because my wife is involved in the music industry also, so we both work together."

"Married life has been great!" Sophia shared. "I live overseas but we talk every day ... day and night. And I come to Jamaica regularly, so we actually do spend a lot of time together. With his career, sometimes I will do bookings, and if there is any paperwork ... contracts... I take care of that."

Sometimes labelled as an artiste on the "dark side", being compared to Tommy Lee Sparta, and having spoken publicly about experiencing depression, AceGawd is unbothered by who thinks what.

"The comparison with Tommy Lee does not affect me, reason being a lot of artiste in the music industry sounds alike," he said.

And as for the much-talked-about dark side, his wife answered, "Yes, he has a dark side and that is what I find interesting. What he sings about is different and that is one of things that makes him special."
