The trailer for the highly anticipated Bob Marley Paramount Studios biopic Bob Marley: One Love will be released today, the reggae legend's son Ziggy confirmed on a Twitter post on Wednesday.

"Nothing happens before it's time and now is the time for the story of our father Bob Marley to be represented in a biopic theatrical release coming in 2024. You've heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became," Marley's oldest son said in a post.

Bob Marley: One Love stars Kingsley Ben Adir as the reggae icon, who secured the role after a wide ranging casting search. In the official poster, which was unveiled this week, he is seen standing with his back turned and right fist raised in a pose that is reminiscent of Marley. Lashana Lynch stars as Bob's wife, Rita, in the Reinaldo Marcus Green-directed film. The Marley family produced it alongside Paramount and for them "it represents the continuation of Bob's message and growth". On the poster is written, "Some voices are forever."

Earlier this year, the film-makers were in the island for weeks, shooting for an extended period in Trench Town, Marley's home, and also at locations such as Bull Bay and National Heroes Circle in Kingston, where night scenes for a famous Marley-headlined concert were filmed, using several persons from the surrounding communities as extras. Parts of the biopic were also filmed in England.

In his post, Ziggy stated that the film "will bring you to witness for the first time what it was like to be around the legend, to see his pain, his sorrows, his joys and his redemption" and stressed that "the cast and crew represent one of the most unique creation to ever come out of a Hollywood studio".

"Authenticity fills the screen with numerous Jamaican actors doing us proud in representing the culture. Filmed at the actual places where Bob walked, played football and sang like Trench Town and Bull Bay in Kingston, it is an artistic creation that we are proud of and want you to enjoy to be entertained but also to be inspired.

"With this release, we look forward to inspiring not only the long-time fans but also the younger generation, giving them a vehicle that opens the door to explore Bob's life and music and in so doing expand his universal message of unification, justice and peace throughout the Earth," Ziggy concluded in his post.
