J-Tiff upbeat about KipRich collab

For years, reggae-dancehall artiste J-Tiff had struggled to make an impact in the music business.

But now, she believes that she is on the verge of a major breakthrough after teaming up with dancehall star KipRich on the single Personal Stripper, which is raising eyebrows.

The single, which was produced by Paypaz Chasaz Muzic, was released three weeks ago to rave reviews from music insiders and the public.

"This single is a joyous moment for me. I really felt the need to step out of my comfort zone and see if it would be accepted more by the public. I am so grateful for KipRich and the love and effort he put into working with me, because many artistes, radio deejays, selectors and even PR practitioners turned me down before I made the connection with KipRich. Now, based on the energy of the song, people are jumping in my DM offering to write for me and do other collabs; it means a lot to me," she said.

J-Tiff, given name Tiffany Gelly, paid tribute to MC Nuffy and her manager, music insider Lady Timry, for her elevation as an artiste.

"I saw Lady Timry on Instagram and reached out to her to share my story of the ups and downs and struggles and disappointments and unfulfilled promises I encountered ... . She started guiding me and connected me with KipRich to do the collab, and it's all changing now," she explained.

J-Tiff had toiled for years on the cultural side of the music under the moniker Jah Tiff, even scoring a collaboration with Turbulence. But the stars were not aligned for her. But since changing her name and landing in the orbit of KipRich, her fortunes have changed.

"We made the decision as a team to change my name. It was KipRich's idea, and the rebranding move is really working. I am getting a lot of attention on social media, especially in my community," she said.

J-Tiff grew up in Kingston and attended Meadowbrook High School. She first got involved in music through a Trinidad-based producer, and released her first song, Believe It, in 2018. She feels her career is on an upward trajectory, and is currently working on a six-track EP.
