Jango Thriller is ‘rejuvenated’ in returning to music
It was one year ago that Jango Thriller revived a music career that he put on hold for family reasons, and Rejuvenate, his first album, sealed his comeback.
The Maryland-based singer is preparing to release his second album in August. His song, Shotters in Love, is also the theme for a low-budget movie of the same, which is expected for release in November. While the film is unlikely to smash box office records, Jango Thriller believes having a song on a soundtrack is beneficial for an artiste.
"Music is one of the most emotive tools available in film-making. It makes great opportunities for artistes marketing their music," he said, adding that it "will drastically increase my exposure to new demographics".
Jango Thriller was born in the United Kingdom to Jamaican parents, who returned to Kingston when he was a boy. He started his recording career in the early 1980s with producer Computer Paul.
After migrating to the United States of America, Jango Thriller continued to record music, but 20 years ago he took a break from the business to focus on his children's education.
He decided to give music a second crack and began writing songs for what became Rejuvenate. The album's lead single, Never Too Much, made the Top 10 of the South Florida Reggae Chart early this year.
