Throughout the years, several Jamaican reggae and dancehall acts have performed in African countries, while some have recorded collaborations with Africa-based artistes.

Zimbabwe-based dancehall/reggae artistes Buffalo Souljah and Dyllano recently worked with Jamaican production entity Natural Bond Entertainment, and are featured on the label's 'Redemption' rhythm.

Buffalo Souljah's song is titled New God, while Dyllano contributes to the song Better Life. According to Dyllano, working with Natural Bond was an experience he will never forget.

"For me, it was an experience of personal expression, where I was given ground to roam freely in my creative space. I've worked with Jamaican producers before, but none as well known as Natural Bond," said Dyllano. He said that once he heard the rhythm, he was instantly hooked.

"The rhythm has that captivating vibe where it makes you want to hear more of it, plus its elements are solid and uniquely placed. My song, Better Life, is an energy that everyone carries that pushes them to work, but specifically with ghetto people. We work, yet we are somehow constrained spiritually, mentally, economically and otherwise. Hence we cry to God in knowing where we're positioned in the moment," Dyllano said.

Buffalo Souljah is a multiple award-winning artiste. He won 10 times at the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards, Soundcity Music Awards, and Zimdancehall Awards, and has been nominated for several others. He shared what inspired New God.

"First, the melody on the rhythm sorrowfully drove me to the concept. Right now around the world, every youth wants to live the 'baller life' inspired by others on Instagram, and this fake life is so bad that they are willing to make all sorts of sacrifices to get money," he said.
