It is hard to imagine a song without a music video as visuals have been used to promote new tracks since the MTV era of the early 1980s.

That was not the case in 1991 when My First Real Love by teen singer Dwisdom was released. It topped charts in Jamaica, but no one knew what the singer of this soul ballad looked like.

In late July, a video for the song was finally released. Directed and produced by Steve HoSang for Digital 1 Media Service, it was filmed in South Florida with Willie Stewart, who co-produced the song in 1991 with his brother Pablo fully involved.

"When we recorded My First Real Love at Peak Studios in Red Hills, there was an instant magic. The sincerity in which Dorette Wisdom (Dwisdom ) sang the song with her whole heart and soul with a unique and exceptional voice, my brother Pablo and I had a gut feeling it would do well," said Stewart, who was a member of the Third World band for more than 20 years.

The respected drummer co-wrote the song with Dwisdom, Neville Hines and Ian Hird. He believes a video will revive interest in Dwisdom and her biggest hit.

Dwisdom, now a member of Beres Hammond's Harmony House Singers, agrees.

"The significance of this release is to give the exposure that it didn't receive when first released. Shooting the video will finally introduce the face behind the song," she said.
