From the very beginning of his career, reggae artiste Ras Fraser Jr committed himself to always record good-quality songs, a wise decision which is working in his favour.

Bounce and Galang, a song he recorded on producer Cally B's 'Portmore Vybz' rhythm for Small Axe Entertainment in 2020, was recently selected for the soundtrack of the new Netflix series Survival of the Thickest, starring American actress Michelle Buteau. The song is featured in episode seven of the series, which was released on Netflix on July 13.

Ras Fraser Jr said he was elated when his manager informed him that his song was selected for the soundtrack.

"I know that this kind of exposure would help to introduce my music to a wider audience. I am a reggae artiste who is making music for an international audience. I want my music to be known all over the world just like Bob Marley's music," he said.

However, this is not the first time one of his songs has been featured on a soundtrack. In 2009, his song Fire Man was featured in an episode of the TV show Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. Fire Man was produced by JRK Productions.

"It's very important for Jamaican artistes to think about the international market when they're making music and don't just think about the 'forwards' that your song is going to get in the dancehall parties. The world of music is much bigger than that, and opportunities are endless. Film companies are seeking songs for movies and television show soundtracks all the time," said Ras Fraser Jr.

The entertainer is currently working on several new projects, including an album which is slated to be released next year.
